LATEST NEWS ABOUT BRUCE AND OUR TRIBUTE BAND BORN TO RUN
Sheffield Hallam Arena 14.11.06
Just got back. What a priviledge to see Bruce once again. Astounding. Magic. Wonderful. The latest reworking of The River was breathtaking and quite emotional, Youngstown was aptly relevant in this part of the country and during Bring Them Home you could hear a pin drop. Much better than Manchester in May - tighter and a much more rounded and balanced set list. Once again Bruce delivered the goods with his typical honesty, sincerity and 100% effort. Two and a half hours of sheer genius. I'm going to lie down in a dark room now. The Irish performances are going to be filmed for a possible DVD so let's hope it all goes ok.

SAX MAD RICK MAKES DEBUT
Here's a shot of Rick on his debut at The Studio, Hartlepool. This guy is some cool dude and a martyr to the Springsteen cause travelling all the way from Hornsea for every gig - and to rehearsals in Pontefract. Welcome aboard Rick.

BORN TO RUN AT EDINBURGH
It was an 8 hour round trip but what a good night. Thankyou to Alan at Cult Promotions for the local logistics and the good promotional work and many thanks to the audience for their wonderful reception and the vocal participation in just about every song. It was a real pleasure to visit and we hope to be back. Nice people.

BIT OF A SWEAT ON ......
....at Baileys, Grimsby last Sunday, with only about 20 people in with half an hour to go before kick off. Long faces all round in the band. People must leave it while the last minute here, though, because all of a sudden the place filled up and was well packed out by the time the band hit the stage. Much applause and singing and shouting for more, as usual, and everyone ended up having a really great night. Thanks folks.

BIRMINGHAM MOTORCYCLE MUSEUM 22.5.07
That was what you call a night to remember. Posh venue, dancing girls, immaculate hosts, 800 people, dancing girls, free food and drink, top class sound engineers, seriously large stage, wonderful warm evening, dancing girls, lavish dressing rooms, what more could a poor boy do? And did I mention dancing girls?

BIRDSEDGE FESTIVAL 2007, HUDDERSFIELD
Many thanks to Roz and co for inviting us to play on the Sunday night of this three day festival. It absolutely bucketed it down but owing to the spacious marquee[ and bar] no one suffered and it was a phenomenal gig which ended up at over two and a half hours with people still shouting for more even though it was way past finish time. Great to see the band again on an extremely large stage with loads of room to move about and great to see a very enthusiastic audience. Even better to receive an invite to return next year. Also we must say thankyou to those who traveled a fair distance on a desperately wet Sunday night including the Stockport contingent who called in on their way back from holidays in East Anglia!! We appreciate your support.

HARK TO TOWLER, BURY
Hello Hark To Towler, thankyou for having us on. First time for the band here and a bit of a small stage compared to what the band is normally used to, but a warm and inviting place nevertheless. The crowd took a few numbers to warm up, probably not having seen a Springsteen tribute before and not knowing quite what to expect, but they got there magnificently in the end. Lucky Town, Rosalita and So Young And In Love were performed particularly well tonight chaps. The sax just keeps getting better - isn't that what the wife keeps telling me?

NOAH'S HOUSE PARTY, LONDON
A long way to travel there and back in one night from West Yorkshire but well worth it and thanks to Noah for a great evening. A dedicated bunch of American Bruce fans if ever there was one and a superb venue for the band to perform in, complete with a lift to transport the equipment. Luxury! The band played Rosalita and She's The One particularly well I thought. We'll do 'Trapped' next time Noah, time just ran out on us and I think the staff wanted to go home!! Check out the photo of 'I'm Going Down ' in the Gallery section of this website. Cheers.

ALAN AND DAVE'S BORN TO RUN PARTY, NUNEATON
Yes - two parties in one week - we're just party animals. A huge thankyou to Alan and Dave for inviting the band to play at this event and for making the band, wives [special occasion they don't normally come] and additional Bruce fans so welcome. A really comfortable venue, great food, great stage to play on, big dance floor, good disco, superb hospitality and just a good night all round. Ramrod and So Young And In Love went down particularly well, as of course did Dancing In The Dark and Glory Days. Despite the fact that Alan and Dave have got tickets to Bruce's 19th December London concert we still think they are OK guys.

BORN TO RUN GRIMSBY 23.12.07
It was grim in Grimsby last night - cold and damp and not a soul Out In The Streets. However, excellent fish and chips and a good sized crowd inside at Baileys soon remedied the situation. Thanks to everyone for turning out - particularly the guys who travelled from from Manchester - and for the great vocal support on many of the songs. Gypsy Biker, Long Walk Home and Livin In The Future from the new album are well under way in the band's rehearsals and will make their debut shortly. Must also make mention of an absolutely phenomenal version of Land Of Hope And Dreams performed by the band last night. Toot! Toot! All Aboard!

THANKYOU KIRKBY STEPHEN.
Born To Run's first ever visit to a Youth Hostel this weekend proved an all round hit with audience and band. Set in the majestic splendour of the Yorkshire Dales this lovely little town provided the location for a rather wild private party Brucefest. Thankyou Talis for inviting the band and thankyou to every member of the audience for creating such a great atmosphere. Songs were sung, beer was drunk and dances were danced and everyone had a great night to remember. We hope you all got home safely after the weekend.

SUNNY CLEETHORPES
We always like a trip to the seaside. First time at this venue and what a great surprise to find a full house on a Sunday teatime with people literally coming in off the streets as they heard the music. Gypsy Biker, Long Walk Home and Livin' In The Future from the new album went down particularly well and the band's performance of Land Of Hope And Dreams just goes from strength to strength. A really enjoyable gig and thanks to Ian Jones for arranging it and for the rebooking later this year.

BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN AND THE E STREET BAND OLD TRAFFORD 28.5.08
Miserable wet weather, very poor driving conditions and traffic queues on the M62 following an accident meant that it took us 3 hours to do the usual 1 hour journey and we were well stressed up by the time we got to our seats in the stadium. Serious panic set in at the thought of arriving late at a Bruce concert for the first time in 23 years, but we just made it - arrived 7.30pm, Bruce on stage at 7.50pm and away you go straight into No Surrender and then Radio Nowhere. Highlights for us were Trapped, Adam Raised A Cain, It's Hard To Be A Saint In The City and Rosalita, but that's not to put down the new stuff, which worked really well live. The band is certainly looking older these days and poor old Clarence has to sit down from time to time, but they can still play. Some of Bruce's lead guitar work was phenomenal and Nils just goes mad on his solo in Because The Night.
A light rain fell on the pitch audience all night but no one seemed to be bothered and on the obligatory 'Born To Run with all house lights turned on' the place was really jumping. Mary's Place similarly went down well as a 'house party' and of course Tenth Avenue Freeze Out is always a killer. All in all a great setlist with a good mix of new songs, classics and rarities and it's clear that at 58 Bruce still has the class, energy and honest enthusiasm which seperates him from most (all) others. Went home on a high as expected after a Bruce concert.
Roll on Saturday at The Emirates, London.

BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN AND THE E STREET BAND EMIRATES STADIUM LONDON 31.5.08
A gorgeous sunny day and a no pressure leisurely 3.5 hour drive arriving with plenty of time to walk around and sample the atmosphere before the concert put us in a good frame of mind for this one. Warnings of ticket touts selling yesterday's tickets to unwary punters being broadcast around the stadium prompted Dave in our party to flourish his treasured Birmingham NEC 1981 River tour ticket signed by Bruce for our inspection. A modern stadium, very courteous staff and discovery that we were in the 'Club' level seating (posh area with comfy seats, immediate access to food, drink, toilets) made us feel even better. Having said that, it always amazes us how so many people come to a Bruce concert and then spend their time going backwards and forwards to the bar and then to the toilets. Man this is serious stuff - you shouldn't miss a second of it - you can get tanked up anytime.
Anyway on came the band to the strains of The Man On The Flying Trapeze and treated us to another superb night, starting at just before 8.00pm and finishing smack on curfew time at 10.30pm. Out In The Street, No Surrender, Darkness on the Edge of Town, Gypsy Biker and then Radio Nowhere got things off to a flying start. Highlights for us were then 4th of July, Asbury Park (Sandy), Downbound Train, I'm on Fire, Backstreets, Girls in Their Summer Clothes and Jungleland. Clarence may need a golf buggy to get him to the stage and a golden throne to rest on when he gets there but he stood up and played Jungleland note perfect which was probably the most spine tingling moment of the evening. And how Bruce can manage those powerfully strong vocals night after night is just amazing. Girls In Their Summer Clothes was just a superb crowd singalong - a top class pop song that surely would have been at the top of the charts if released as a single this summer.
Another brilliant evening, another T-shirt, another wall poster, another journey home on a high and then that familiar next day 'what do I do now, it's all over' depression, which only ever happens with Springsteen concerts . Great memories of 2 shows in 4 days and still the best act I've ever seen. EVER.
If I sold the house/wife/kids/car I could afford to go to more Bruce Springsteen concerts......................

Bruce in rest mode.
This photo is courtesy of Noah Berliner, who slept at The Emirates Stadium, London, to ensure front row positions at the 30th and 31st May 2008 shows. Noah managed to touch Bruce's guitar and sing into the microphone.
Dedication, as Bruce and Gary US Bonds once said.
Thanks for the photo Noah. (That's him in the white T shirt.)
And here's a shot, from Tim Garrett, another front rower, who queued from 10.30am and says every minute was worth it. Thanks Tim and we hope to see you next time we are down in London.
And finally...
Another one from Noah, who this time slept overnight outside Cardiff stadium. That's him in the white t-shirt. Hopefully having been washed. Cheers Noah.
Back down to earth after the previous paragraphs - but never mind. Born To Run had a great weekend out at Butlins thanks to the staff, audience and organisers at this major event. Five hours travel each way, but good weather, a chance to work with a HUGE stage and sound system, an audience of thousands, an overnight stay and being part of a very professional several day, multi -artist, line up, all added up to make it a really enjoyable experience. Thanks again to everyone concerned. The set list centered around Bruce's 'hits' given the size and range of audience and everyone seemed to enjoy it. Gypsy Bikers rule ok!!

BIRDSEDGE FESTIVAL 2008, HUDDERSFIELD
Born To Run played here in 2007 and it piddled it down. We played here in 2008, almost to the day and guess what - it piddled it down. Nevertheless a fine body of men and women turned out to see the band performing in the large marquee, for which we were very grateful! Another well organised event with friendly staff and good facilities, so thanks for having us again.

THE NEW ROSCOE LEEDS, ANNUAL XMAS PARTY
What a band what a crowd what a night!!. A fitting end to the year at the Roscoe. Right from the off Mark was helped by everyone there singing everyword to every song. Mark on keyboards was on fire throughout, Pete was the coolest ever, Chris played out of his skin, Rick blew like there was no tomorrow and Mick on Drums was as reserved as ever-not!!. At what could be the last gig for this tribute to the "Boss" the band raced through all those Springsteen songs you just have to hear...and more. The crowd played their part
re-enacting crowd scenes from Bruces live concerts, chanting the words back when they should and even going quiet when shushed.
We were all at one helluva party, and it was good!!!!.
Thanks to one and all....we hope we see you all again sometime.
